The track listing for disc three of the upcoming Monkees Present deluxe edition has changed slightly. "How Insensitive," which appeared on the expanded Instant Replay, has been removed and replaced with a 1969 rough stereo mix of "Steam Engine."

Monkees historian Andrew Sandoval posted this on his Facebook page yesterday:

"I would have to say this is a pretty big deal. The final box set in a series of Deluxe Editions I started in 2006 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of The Monkees. Now we are a few years shy of their 50th and my restoration work is just about done. Rhino could have, of course, issued all of these things many years back, but its a "process" as they say. Looking forward to writing about the final full year of The Monkees, 1969, and discussing some truly top drawer recordings on this set: "Little Girl," "If I Knew" and "Listen To The Band." It was a thrill to hear some of these tunes again - I had forgotten how strong the "new" recordings were on this set. Good Clean Fun."

Monkees.com is now taking pre-orders for the Monkees Present deluxe edition. The tentative release date is July 30, 2013. Only 5,000 box sets will be manufactured, so don't wait too long to place your order. Accompanying the package is a special vinyl 45 with picture sleeve.

The Monkees Present (DELUXE EDITION) will be available for pre-order at Monkees.com beginning May 9th.

The 3 CD set will feature a remastered version of the original album, plus unissued songs, alternate takes, mono mixes, backing tracks and radio spots.

What do we know so far?

1.The Monkees Tour Facebook page left a comment that they will be posting all information regarding ticket sales as well as pre-sales within the next day. It is most likely safe to assume that this information will be made available on Wednesday, April 30. The Live Almanac will also share these details here on the blog once it becomes available. However, check the tour's Facebook page and Monkees.com throughout the day on Wednesday for the most immediate news regarding ticket sales.

2. Monkees.com has reported that Pre-sale and VIP ticket packages for all shows will go on sale exclusively at Monkees.com on Wednesday, May 1 at 10AM local time. What is local time? That wasn't made clear and hopefully this will be clarified shortly.  

3. VIP ticket packages are said to include a copy of the upcoming Rhino deluxe edition of The Monkees Present. (The Monkees Present deluxe will also be sold separately.) No other details were given about VIP packages, including whether or not they will include meet and greet options. UPDATED 4/30: There will be no options for meet and greet in the VIP packages.

4. No release date has been given for The Monkees Present deluxe edition, nor is a track listing available at this time.

5. General on-sales for all dates, according to Monkees.com, will begin on Friday, May 3.

The Monkees Present is now available for high resolution download here.  I have not purchased this yet, so if anyone has, please feel free to submit a review of the sound quality.

Still no word from Rhino about a deluxe edition for this album...

There is a great new interview with Micky on The Huffington Post.  He discusses The Monkees, his new solo album Remember, his career, a Monkees Present deluxe box, the 2012 Monkees tour and more. And, the interview and article was completed by a Monkees fan.  Check it out here.

Thanks to JD at Monkee45s, we have an update on the status of Monkees products at Rhino Records and Rhino Handmade.  I've received a few emails asking whether or not the Head and Instant Replay Handmade deluxe boxes can be ordered directly from Rhino by phone.  I recently contacted Rhino inquiring about the availability of their Handmade products but was unable to get a response. However, JD had more success. 

JD was told that all Monkees music is officially available at Amazon or iTunes, but nothing can be ordered directly from Rhino for the time being, and that includes the Handmade deluxe boxes.  Apparently all Handmade projects are on hold until sometime next year while Rhino's website and inventory is revamped.

We can keep our fingers crossed that once Rhino and Rhino Handmade are ready to go we'll see a Monkees Present deluxe box.  Keep checking here for more information as it becomes available.

While the deluxe box for The Birds, The Bees and The Monkees has long been sold out (and is not even available used on Amazon), the Head and Instant Replay deluxes are on Amazon.  However, private retailers are selling them and some of the asking prices are fairly high.
